OUR HISTORY
More than two hundred years ago, a community of nuns in Ronda, an iconic city in Andalusia, began producing and selling an organic olive oil that quickly earned a reputation as the best in the region and in the world. This oil, known as LA Amarilla, stood out among locals for its exceptional quality.
In the 1990s, Pedro Gómez de Baeza, owner of the LA Amarilla olive grove, decided to continue the tradition established by the nuns by founding LA Almazara El Toro, designed by renowned designer Philippe Starck. As sales grew and the original production could no longer meet demand, LA Almazara El Toro
Today, Almazara El Toro has evolved into a place that not only continues the tradition of producing high-quality organic olive oil, but also celebrates Andalusia’s rich cultural heritage. Inspired by great wineries, this space was conceived by renowned industrial designer Philippe Starck.
Almazara El Toro is more than a mill; it is a museum and cultural center that pays tribute to Andalusian tradition and the art of olive oil production. Starck describes the project as a reflection of Andalusia and “an unusual, incredible, and miraculous place.” Almazara El Toro blends Spanish artistic culture with ancestral expertise in olive oil production, creating a unique space that celebrates both the past and the future of the region.
